What is the Lied Public Library Foundation?
The Clarinda (Lied) Public Library Foundation is a private, non-profit organization ,501(c)3, created for creative and educational purposes. These include receiving gifts, contributions, and bequest to be used for the betterment of the Lied Public Library and the Clarinda community.
Vision Statement
To enable the Library to continually improve its service to the community, the Foundation seeks to establish an enduring legacy for the betterment of the Library and Clarinda.
Mission and Goals
The Clarinda (Lied) Public Library Foundation recognizes that the Library is a valuable and unique asset to the entire Clarinda community. Established in 1984, the Foundation is committed to dedicating all its efforts for a healthy and vibrant library for the benefit of all. The Foundation seeks to complement and enhance traditional library funding resources.
Foundation Priorities:
· Provide additional financial support for the library
· Increase and enhance community awareness of both the Library and Foundation
· Continue to offer scholarships
The Foundation works with the Library to identify funding needs. The Foundation is incorporated and registered with the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt organization. Funds, securities, or real property given to the Foundation may be tax deductible.
Who makes up the Foundation?
A volunteer Board of Directors is responsible for the organizations and conduct fund-raising efforts. They are also responsible for the management and disbursement of all funds they hold.
What can I do to help the Foundation and the Library?

Volunteering at the Library
Each year volunteers help support the community by helping the Lied Public Library. Volunteers help in all aspects of the Library, from shelving books, helping at library events, and giving computer support.

Donations to the Library
Book Donations
The Friends of the Library welcomes donated books, audio books, and movies (DVDs); if you have a few items (2-3 bags) we can take them anytime, however for large number of items please contact the library first. Your donation may be added to the Library collection or sold at the Friends of the Lied Public Library book sales to help enhance our services and programs. Contact the Library with questions about donating books to the library. (Books must be in "good" useable condition, no textbooks, magazines, or Reader's Digest)
General Donations
Monetary donations help the Library expand and maintain its collections, services and programs.
Donors can suggest a particular area or format for purchase, or give an unspecified donation to be used as the Library best sees fit. Donations of all sizes are welcome, however the average cost of a book is $20. If requested a donor plate can be placed on those items donated.
Gifts & Memorials
Remember or celebrate loved ones by making a donation to the Library in their name. Talk to a Librarian to see how!
Memorials are also accepted to honor a loved one, relative, or friend.
